We developed two software tools for visualising arbitrary quantum systems in 3D. Software related to this is developed at the Qyber development site.
WaveViz
A wavefunction visualisation tool based predominantly on point-based rendering on the GPU. Arbitrary wavefunctions can be specified to the rendering engine, which can be accessed via a library. A demonstration frontend is also available to render some standard wave functions such as a particle in a box and the hydrogen atom orbitals. Basic animation of the time evolution and a specialised ray casting renderer have also been implemented.
This program has been developed by Akshay Mishra, a visiting research student, at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Cambridge University under supervision of S. G. Schirmer and F. C. Langbein.
QVisSim
QVisSim is a visualisation tool for rendering wavefunctions using point-based rendering and ray casting. In particular the time evolution of the quantum system can be visualised by linking the rendering engine with a solver for the time-dependent Schrödinger euqation. For the solver a simple Lie group solver has been used.
This program has been developed by Ankit Arora, a research student visiting the School of Computer Science, Cardiff University from the Punjab Engineering College, under the supervision of F. C. Langbein.
